🏊♂️ The Swim
It all starts with a splash—off the dock and into the beautiful waters of Hyrum Dam. From there, you’ve got options:
Feeling ambitious? Swim out and around the buoy, then cruise past the dock and over to the beach—about 750 meters (.47 miles) total.
Just here for the vibes? Skip the buoy and head straight from the dock to the beach. It’s about 200 meters, give or take, depending on where you land.
No judgment, no pressure—just a refreshing dip to kick off your Dam Triathlon adventure.
🚴♀️ The Bike
You’ll kick things off with a short but spicy hill out of the Hyrum Dam parking lot—consider it your warm-up (or your villain origin story).
Then it’s smooth sailing as you cruise out through Hyrum and into Paradise along quiet country roads. You’ll follow 600 West to 400 West, then 300 West until you reach 9300 South. Keep pedaling ’til you hit 100 East, give the turnaround some finger guns, and head back the way you came. Want to running up that beastly hill? Park your bike at the top and begin your run from there. We won’t judge. In fact—we might join you.
Total distance about: 20 kilometers (12 miles)
🏃♂️ The Run
Whether you’re starting from the dam or smartly skipping the hill and beginning at the top, you’ll first run north along Center Street. You’ll swing left on 300 South, then cruise down to Hyrum State Park on and turn right on 400 west. From there, it’s a loop of right turns: 200 South, then 200 East, then 500 South—bringing you right back to the finish line. It’s a 5K(ish) route, but feel free to remix it if you’re just here for a good time. No one’s checking your splits. Probably.
And hey—if 5K feels like a bit much, blaze your own trail. Take a shortcut, walk the loop, or just do a victory lap around the parking lot. No judgment here.
